Licenses & Credits

StrikeAndYield is built to be legally clean: every component is either an original work of this site or free, open-source software whose license permits commercial use without fees. This page lists each component, answering two questions per item: is attribution required? and is commercial use permitted?

The announcements page, and what it reproduces

The announcements page lists press releases published by central banks and market regulators. It carries, per item, exactly four things: the headline, the source, the date and a link. No description, no excerpt, no body text. That is a licensing decision rather than a design one, and each source is on the list for a stated reason:

SourceWhy its material may be reproduced
US Federal Reserve, US Securities and Exchange CommissionWorks of the US federal government are not subject to copyright protection (17 U.S.C. § 105).
Deutsche BundesbankAmtliche Erlasse und Bekanntmachungen carry no copyright protection under § 5 UrhG.
European Central BankReproduction permitted for non-commercial and educational purposes with the source acknowledged.
ESMA, European Banking AuthorityReuse of EU institutional documents permitted with the source acknowledged (Commission Decision 2011/833/EU).
Bank for International SettlementsReproduction permitted with the source acknowledged, on the BIS's own published terms.
Bank of EnglandCrown copyright, published under the Open Government Licence — reuse permitted with attribution.

No commercial news publisher appears there, and that is deliberate. Reproducing a publisher's headline together with its standfirst is precisely what the press publishers' right covers (§ 87f UrhG; Article 15 of Directive (EU) 2019/790), and "it is only a headline" is not a position worth building on. There is also a better reason to leave them out: the announcement is the primary document, and for somebody learning how this works the commentary about it is not the useful half.

The subject tag beside each item is ours, produced by a small keyword rule applied to the headline. It is not the source's classification, it is not presented as one, and its only purpose is to link the reader to the page here that explains the mechanism.

What this site does not use

  • No stock photos, no third-party imagery or icon sets — all graphics are drawn in code.
  • No third-party CDNs, no third-party trackers, no embedded external content. The site does measure its own usage, from its own server, without cookies and without anything that survives the tab — see the privacy policy for exactly what is recorded.
  • No market data feeds and no licensed data. The announcements page above links to primary sources; it subscribes to no vendor and reproduces no vendor’s output. Every figure in a worked example is invented for teaching and the arithmetic is checked; historical figures name their date. Live market sizes are deliberately absent, because nothing here could keep them current.

Full license texts ship with the site: assets/vendor/katex/LICENSE (MIT), assets/vendor/inter/LICENSE and assets/vendor/space-grotesk/LICENSE (both OFL-1.1).

Everything else here is written for this site: see what it is and who it is for, or go straight to the atlas.
